Demine Ukraine Forum 2025: the main platform for solutions and partnerships in the field of humanitarian demining
15.12.2025
On December 5, Kyiv hosted the third annual Demine Ukraine Forum, a key event in the field of humanitarian demining, which brought together about 600 representatives of the government, regional military administrations, international organizations, primary health care operators, equipment manufacturers, researchers, innovators and public institutions.
The Forum was opened by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksiy Sobolev. He stressed that despite the difficult conditions, farmers have already received almost 10 thousand hectares of cleared land within the framework of the state compensation program. The trend is also noticeable in the harvest: even in the affected regions — in the Kharkiv region, Sumy region, and Chernihiv region — farmers harvested more this year than last year. This is a direct result of the work of sappers, deminers and partners who help bring the earth back to life.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Masashi Nakagome, UNDP Resident Representative to Ukraine Auke Lotsma and Director of the Service of the EU Foreign Policy Instrument Peter Wagner delivered welcoming remarks.
At the Forum, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravaynyi presented a new GRIT prioritization system created on the basis of Palantir technologies. This tool combines various data about territories, analyzes them and helps to make accurate management decisions and use resources more efficiently.
During the Forum, panel discussions were held, where the participants discussed the leading areas in the field of humanitarian demining.
Main topics of discussion:
- Humanitarian demining as an investment in the future of Ukraine: the impact of clearing territories on the economy, the development of the agricultural sector, public-private partnerships, and the role of regions in recovery.
- International support and its strategic impact: donor contribution to accelerating demining, digital solutions, training of specialists, innovations and exchange of international experience.
- Partnership for Development: effective financial models, public and private sector involvement, investment in demining and tools to stimulate recovery.
-
Synergy of national and international standards: combining international requirements with Ukrainian realities, adapting standards to innovations and forming new approaches based on Ukrainian experience.
The event once again confirmed the importance of combining the efforts of the state, international partners and the private sector for the safe and effective recovery of Ukraine. Thanks to such meetings, new strategies are formed, innovative approaches are introduced and interaction is strengthened, which allows for faster return of land to communities, economic recovery and building a sustainable future of the country.
Demine Ukraine Forum 2025 is organized by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine together with the Center for Humanitarian Demining with the support of UNDP and funding from the governments of Norway and the Netherlands.
