Demining, reconstruction, food security: the Center presented its experience at the summit in Kyiv
The Fourth International Summit on Food Security was held in Kyiv on November 19. The event brought together representatives of governments, international organizations, the diplomatic corps, and experts from about 40 countries around the world.
The Humanitarian Demining Center presented its experience in the field of agricultural land restoration during the panel discussion “From demining to export recovery: the impact of war and the resilience of the Ukrainian agricultural sector”. Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Donor Interaction Andriy Kondor outlined the algorithm and results of the state program for compensation for costs for humanitarian demining of agricultural lands. He also emphasized the importance of systematic cooperation between the state, donors and communities to restore Ukraine's agricultural potential.
The Center's participation in this Summit is a confirmation of the importance of humanitarian demining as an integral component of global food security. The restoration of contaminated lands allows Ukraine not only to maintain its own food security, but also to contribute to the food security of those regions of the world where millions of people depend on humanitarian supplies.
The Center continues to expand international cooperation and work on practical solutions that allow for the safe return of lands to life and strengthen the economic resilience of Ukrainian communities.
Since 2022, more than 320,000 tons of food aid have already been delivered to vulnerable communities in Africa and Asia.
The event resulted in a Joint Statement signed by international partners. The document outlines the priorities of the international community in the fight against hunger, the development of sustainable agriculture, and support for countries facing food challenges. The statement remains open for accession.
