First compensation for already demined agricultural lands
26.11.2025
The state program for compensation for the costs of humanitarian demining of agricultural lands continues to gain momentum. The first payment of compensation has been made to an agricultural producer whose land plots were demined by certified mine action operators between February 24, 2022 and April 15, 2024.
Compensation was received by the owner of land in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Beryslav district, Kherson region, where a significant part of the agricultural territories was contaminated with explosive objects (EOAs).
The application covered an area of over 1.15 thousand hectares, and humanitarian demining work on these lands was carried out in March–April 2023.
Under the terms of the compensation program, the farmer received compensation in the amount of 80% of the cost of the work. The legislation provides for this level of compensation for areas that were demined before the program was launched.
The total cost of the work amounted to about UAH 5.9 million, of which the farmer received compensation in the amount of more than UAH 4.7 million.
Director of the Humanitarian Demining Center, Volodymyr Bayda, emphasized:
This is an important step for the restoration of agricultural production in the deoccupied territories. Many landowners began demining work immediately after the liberation of the territories, without expecting state support. The state compensates for a significant part of these costs, recognizing the contribution of people to the restoration of the economy and the return of land to life.
The Humanitarian Demining Center will continue to ensure transparent and efficient administration of the program so that farmers can receive compensation and return to work on safe land more quickly.
