11.04.2025

From 9 to 11 April 2025, the 28th International Meeting of National Mine Action Directors and UN Advisors (NDM-UN28) took place in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) - one of the key annual events that brings together the global community to discuss strategic challenges and opportunities in the field of mine action in terms of humanitarian demining.
The meeting was organized under the auspices of the UN Inter-Agency Coordination Group on Mine Action (IACG-MA), in cooperation with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).
This year’s event, held under the theme “Safe Futures Start Here,” brought together leaders of national demining authorities, representatives of international organizations, donors, technical experts, operators, and innovative companies from around the world.
The event program included 5 plenary sessions, over 30 side events, and networking meetings to build partnerships.
Ukrainian experience
Representatives of the Humanitarian Demining Center of Ukraine took an active part in the NDM-UN28 events, in particular, they joined the panel discussion "Mine Action - the Basis of a Secure Future of Ukraine: Current Status, Prospects and Challenges."
The following were presented during the speech:
▪️the Center's activities as a coordinator of humanitarian demining in Ukraine;
▪️Features of the functioning of the market model of humanitarian demining - in particular, compensation programs for the demining of agricultural lands;
▪️challenges facing Ukraine in the context of a full-scale war;
▪️Experience in implementing innovative solutions.
Deepening international cooperation
The event became an important platform for strategic dialogue on improving the effectiveness of mine action, sharing best practices, implementing innovations, and financing humanitarian programs in mine-affected regions.
The participation of representatives of the Center allowed us to strengthen coordination with key international partners and establish new connections to launch joint projects.
Ukraine occupies an important place in the global humanitarian demining community – it offers new approaches, builds partnerships, and shares innovative solutions for a safe future.
