From Response to Systemic Development: Results of Work in 2025

The year 2025 was an important stage in the development of humanitarian demining in Ukraine. As part of the program to compensate for the costs of humanitarian demining of agricultural land, the Center for Humanitarian Demining (CGR) held 91 auctions for a total area of more than 18.6 thousand hectares. ha, the estimated cost of the work exceeded UAH 1.2 billion. According to the results of the auctions, the CGR signed 88 contracts with a total area of about 18.3 thousand square meters. hectares and the cost of work is more than UAH 1.2 billion.
Mine action operators have fulfilled 61 contracts, thanks to which almost 12.3 thousand hectares have been cleared. hectares of land, and the cost of demining amounted to about UAH 713 million.
A separate important area was compensation to agricultural producers whose lands were demined before the launch of the program. The state has already paid more than UAH 4.7 million for the cleaning of more than 1.1 thousand hectares. hectares of agricultural land.
In 2025, the compensation program was expanded to cover individual farmers, which covered all categories of agricultural land. 14 applications with a total area of almost 1.2 thousand hectares were successfully verified. huh
This is an important step towards more equitable access to state support and the restoration of economic activity in communities.
Thanks to a joint fundraiser together with the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine (Ministry of Economy), it was possible to raise USD 1.5 million on the UNITED24 platform. The funds raised are aimed at cleaning socially important facilities: a hospital in the Kherson region, a school, a kindergarten and a park in the Kharkiv region, as well as forestries in the Kyiv region. Auctions for these lots have already taken place.
This project creates an opportunity for CGRs to gain experience working with other types of territories.
In total, with the direct participation of the Center, about 13.8 million people were involved in the field of primary health care in Ukraine. USD. including survey and clearance programs.
The Center for Humanitarian Demining, together with the Ministry of Economy, actively worked on the GRIT digital platform for science-based demining planning. Thanks to GRIT, it was possible to create a prioritized list of sites for humanitarian demining for 2026. The CGR officially sent this document for inclusion in the state Plan for the implementation of humanitarian demining measures in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine for 2026.
