High activity of farmers in compensating for costs of humanitarian land demining

This year, the Humanitarian Demining Center has already received 35 applications from farmers for compensation for the costs of demining agricultural land. These applications cover 1,632 land plots with a total area of 7,723.7 hectares, which indicates the active participation of farmers in the program aimed at restoring safe land use.
The sites are located, in particular, in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Sumy, and Odessa regions.
Updated information on the status of work performed under 47 contracts signed in 2024:
Under 45 contracts (total area - 9.4 thousand hectares), the treasury has already transferred UAH 529.2 million from the budget to the escrow accounts of farmers to compensate for the costs of demining agricultural lands.
Humanitarian demining work is ongoing under 33 contracts, covering 8.4 thousand hectares with a total cost of 486.2 million UAH.
As of February 3, 2025, the humanitarian demining cycle under 5 contracts covering almost 640 hectares was fully completed. Based on the results of the work performed, 20.6 million UAH was transferred to mine action operators from escrow accounts opened by farmers.
"These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the compensation program and indicate the activity of farmers in restoring the safe use of agricultural lands. The Center continues to carefully review applications to ensure their compliance with established requirements and ensure transparency of the compensation procedure, cooperating with relevant state bodies to verify the information provided," the Director of the Center concluded.
