Ukraine is demonstrating that even in the most difficult conditions, effective solutions can be found to restore the country's agricultural sector. To date, 5,138 hectares of agricultural land have been returned to safe use under the state program for compensation for costs for humanitarian demining of agricultural land.
Recently, in the Kharkiv region, a mine action operator completed the clearance of explosives from the land of the subsidiary of LLC "BM GROUP LTD" "AGROGEOFIZYKA" with an area of 1.7 thousand hectares. TM-62PZ anti-tank mines and S-8 unguided aircraft missiles were discovered there.
Since the beginning of the program, full cycles of humanitarian demining have been completed under 38 contracts, the total cost of which amounted to 328.2 million hryvnias. The largest areas were cleared in Kharkiv region - 2.2 thousand hectares and Kyiv region - 1.5 thousand hectares. Also, PMD operators conducted demining in Mykolaiv region - over 1 thousand hectares and in Kherson region - almost 353 hectares.
"These figures are the result of the successful implementation of the compensation program, which continues to develop and scale up. This is a clear example of how state mechanisms can work effectively even in such complex areas as demining. The compensation program has become a real tool to support farmers and has proven that with the joint efforts of the state, partners and operators, we can make the recovery process high-quality and accessible,"
emphasized Volodymyr Bayda, Director of the Humanitarian Demining Center.
The state program for compensation for the cost of demining agricultural land allows farmers who plan to demine their land to receive 100% of the cost of humanitarian demining. Compensation is 80% of the cost of humanitarian demining for farmers who demined their plots between February 24, 2022 and April 15, 2024. To do this, farmers can apply for participation in the program through the State Agrarian Register. More information about the conditions of participation and the procedure for submitting applications for compensation can be found in the "Compensation Program" section.
